Position: Bartender

Department: Food and Beverage

Report to: Food and Beverage Manager, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager, Supervisors

Hours: As required

Objective: To provide friendly, efficient service to our clients while maintaining a professional demeanour.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be punctual and groomed appropriately (well pressed uniform, name tag, hair and teeth clean and neat)
  • To be knowledgeable about the menu's (breakfast, lunch, dinner, lounge, cocktail menu and house wine list)
  • To be able to pair beverages with the menu and food items.
  • To take food and beverage orders and ensure promptly delivery and quality of the product
  • To be knowledgeable on how to make standard cocktails and highballs, including house cocktails
  • To set up bar and ensure it's stocked for full service
  • To maintain record and control of bar stock and arrange supplies
  • To be knowledgeable of wines, scotches, whiskey's, martini's
  • To present cheques properly and ensure cash-outs are correctly completed
  • To complete mis en place and daily duties required
  • To be aware of dietary and allergy concerns
  • To present, open, pour and serve wine in appropriate wine glasses
  • To be aware of the CRMR wine program - including description of all white and red wine by the glass.
  • To be able to make specialty coffees
  • Work well as a team player and representative of the Food and Beverage Department
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the bar area, as well as bar glasses and utensils
  • To be adaptable for large groups and may contain banquet shifts - day and night functions
  • To perform Function room set up's/ tear down's - setting tables, chairs, cutely & linen
  • To be prepared to run food to tables and bus tables in a fast paced environment.
  • Any other duties as required or communicated by the F&B Managers

Requirements/Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar position
  • Previous Hotel experience an asset
  • Knowledge of Squirrel an asset
  • PROSERVE certificate required
  • Bartender Certified or Sommelier trained an asset
  • Must have the ability to work all shifts Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (AM, PM, MID Shifts)
  • Substantial knowledge of food safety and handling procedures
  • To be able to endure long periods of standing (sitting, bending and lifting  (up to 30lbs) may be required )
