Position: Night Maintenance Labourer

Department: Maintenance

Report to: Maintenance Manager and Operations Manager

Hours: As required

 

Objective: To ensure all public areas, guest rooms, and back of house areas are maintained in order to provide quality service for guests and a safe working environment for staff. Night Maintenance checks, Security and fire prevention checks for guests and staff at the lodge during the night.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Shifts are from Midnight to 8am, 5 nights per week
  • Completing rounds of the property three times per night to ensure safety
  • Perform all boiler checks, hot tub checks, furnace checks and recording the information
  • Driving our guests to the lodge upon arrival therefore customer service skills are necessary.
  • Understanding the importance of working independently and providing information to all.
  • All daily duties are assigned by the Maintenance Manager
  • Complete all general maintenance in the hotel and staff accommodation
  • Assisting with repairs of all building maintenance requests (ex. Electrical, plumbing, drywall, paint, heating/cooling systems)
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks
  • Report all damage or non-working equipment to the maintenance manager
  • Perform snow removal by hand with a shovel - keep all sidewalks and stairs free of ice and snow
  • Sweeping in the spring/summers
  • Ensure all light bulbs are working with respect to walkways, lodge, cabin entrances, maintenance shop and Christmas lights
  • Assist with transporting guests for check-in and check-out requests
  • Handle any emergency night calls for guest maintenance issues
  • Do rounds of residence to ensure that from 11pm quiet time rules are applied
  • Recharge boilers if emergency occurs
  • Startup Vapor Shack if it goes out
  • Be able to change valves in water well in an emergency
  • Check the generator on a regular basis
  • Check the operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant
  • Close off the hot-tub at midnight and ensure guests are quiet after 11:00 pm
  • Ensure that all keys are out of vehicles and kept at the front desk until 6:00 am
  • Assist grounds department in any way if/or when requested
  • Work in a clean and neat manner in guestrooms and all other areas
  • Carry out all tasks in a timely fashion
  • Observe dress code and wear appropriate footwear
  • To perform other associated duties as assigned

Requirements/Experience

  • Completion of High School is an asset
  • Full Drivers' license with a clean drivers' abstract that will be required prior to start date
  • Previous maintenance experience is an asset
  • Team player.
  • Must work safely at all times and uphold a high standard for safety
  • Ability to work alone and have great self-discipline with regards time management for work performance
  • Basic electrical and plumbing experience is preferred
  • Drywall and painting an asset
  • Liaising on a regular basis with the Maintenance Manager to determine needs, material, projects, and things to be completed with future and any closure projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to climb a ladder when required
  • Understanding what is required working in a remote location
  • Must have the ability to work mornings, afternoons and on call at times
  • Flexibility and adaptability to emergency situations
  • Physical demands, sitting, standing, bending, lifting (up to 80 lbs)
