The Philadelphia Cricket Club is seeking a full-time Banquet Captain to join our banquet staff. This is an hourly supervisory experience ideal for a hospitality professional seeking increased responsibility!

The Banquet Captain helps train and lead the Banquet staff, assisting wherever necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.  Work shifts and hours vary; weekend and holiday hours are required.

The Captain is an extension of the management team and must be a leader and positive influence for the rest of the staff, especially in the absence of banquet management. He/she is expected to direct staff to ensure all required items are executed perfectly.

Duties Include:

  • Review the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for the day and checks in with the Banquet Manager for assignments/additional information. Also review upcoming BEOs to be prepared for resets.
  • Ensure that current BEOs for that day and following day are posted on staff bulletin board.
  • Display friendliness and helpfulness to members, guests, and fellow employees at all times.
  • Observe all safety and security procedures. Use equipment and material properly and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Walk through banquet areas to check for cleanliness, light bulbs that need changing, maintenance issues, and any items needed for service prior to guest or staff arrival.
  • Check kitchen board to see food items, counts and takes notes of any special daily menu items.
  • Ensure that food and beverage supplies are properly requisitioned.
  • Monitor staff knowledge and appearance.
  • Walk through dining area prior to line up and check tables for proper set up and levelness and that the seating matches the floor plan.
  • Assist with seating members and guests and check on their satisfaction throughout the dining experience.
  • Communicate with the chef during dining regarding counts and timing of service.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. 
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost savings.

Requirements

  • Prior hospitality experience, including 2 years working in banquets
  • Experience as a Captain/Supervisor is preferred
  • Availability to regularly work nights, weekends, and holidays is required
  • Friendly, customer-service oriented attitude
