Reporting to the Service Operations Manager (SOM), the Night Auditor works at the never centre of the hotel. You are a night owl and comfortable to work alone during the overnight shift and take charge. During your shift you are accountable for decision making and the smooth operation of the hotel.

You are…

  • Knowledgeable about Toronto in general, as a place to work, live and visit
  • Sociable, friendly and attentive: you love taking the time to get to know our guests as individuals
  • Tech savvy: patient and methodical when dealing with IT issues, able to see the big picture in order to troubleshoot effectively

  • Flexible and adaptable, the type of person can roll with whatever is presented while keeping a genuine smile on your face
  • Resourceful: always looking for a way to say "yes"
  • Observant, a good listener: you can read between the lines when guests express themselves in order to truly provide a tailored experience
  • Creative: always able to see the potential solution, even if it's not the one that the guest has come up with
  • Comfortable working at a computer while simultaneously conversing with a guest
  • A problem solver: You are a take charge individual and creative decision maker

You have…

  • Worked in a luxury hotel
  • Worked in a small, independent hotel
  • Experience working in a variety of roles, both in the front office and other hotel departments
  • Explored career options and discovered that hospitality is a true passion for you
  • A keen attention for detail, and can easily spot any element that is amiss
  • Experience with training others, and a broad knowledge of techniques to help people who have diverse learning styles
  • More patience than average
  • A genuine desire to help
  • An understanding of why it's so important to provide thoughtful service, and how rare it is to receive it
  • Follow through: tenacity for pursuing details through their execution to ensure all elements are executed to our satisfaction
  • A full G class Ontario drivers' license, and a clean drivers' abstract (must be provided prior to employment)
  • The ability to drive cars with standard transmissions

You will…

  • Perform certain administrative tasks, as assigned by the FOM
  • Coordinate with hotel IT suppliers to troubleshoot services issues and technical problems in the absence of the maintenance team

  • Ensure the overnight operation runs smoothly and the property management system is balanced
  • Prepare selected reports for accounting and management
  • Coordinate with every other department to ensure that all requests are executed as efficiently and effectively as possible
  • Act as the HERT leader while on duty, leading all emergency procedures
  • Communicate effectively on a variety of channels: in person, on the phone, professional correspondence, and social media

About The Broadview Hotel

The Broadview Hotel is a 58-room luxury property located in Toronto's Riverside district. Built in 1891, the establishment occupies Dingman's Hall on the northwest corner of Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue. The hotel also houses an extensive food and beverage offering, which includes a restaurant, lobby café/bar, rooftop bar and terrace, private dining room, and 3,000 square foot event venue with a 1,000 square foot terrace.

The building was designed to be a cornerstone of the neighbourhood, and we aim to maintain that tradition through community programming, supporting initiatives that help those in need, and providing a relaxed atmosphere where patrons can relax, unwind and enjoy life.

The Broadview Hotel stays true to its historic roots through thoughtful service, where small details make a big difference. Careful consideration is given to service: we offer not simply what our guests request, but carry on beyond that to extend thoughtful gestures that reflect guest individuality. Employees at the hotel will work in an environment in which job scopes are broad - it will be a small team - and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and make a true difference is unlimited. If you love diversity, are a great listener, and enjoy being a host, we would love to hear from you.
