We have transformed this hotel with a complete renovation and re-opened as the dazzling Marriott Orlando Downtown, conveniently located adjacent to the downtown UCF campus and nestled in the future Creative Village.  We are looking for a Director of Engineering for our hotel that features 297 redesigned guest rooms and 15,992 square feet of sophisticated meeting accommodations.

The Director of Engineering leads/manages the Engineering Operations to protect the Hotel Asset, including physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C., systems and related. Responsible for managing the budget, capital projects, preventative maintenance along with all regulatory requirements. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel and be accountable for all product related guest service scores.

Essential:

  • Provides the leadership, vision and direction to bring together and prioritize the hotel goals in a way that will be efficient and effective.
  • Increases efficiency of Engineering operations by analyzing procedures and practices and implementing alternative strategies as required.
  • Proactively manage the Engineering Operations by creating an environment that's engaging, where motivated people want to join, learn, do their best, and advance.

  • Recommends or arranges for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.

  • Assists in effectively planning, scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.
  • Evaluates levels of Guest satisfaction and monitor trends, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Posts and communicates all guest and event satisfaction results including all guest satisfaction forms, comment cards and guest letters.
  • Understands associate and guest and event satisfaction results and developing game plans to attack need areas and expand on the strengths.
  • Displays a positive, hands on leadership style to attract, retain and motivate the associates; hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications and recommend discipline and termination, as appropriate. 
  • Ensures on-going communication occurs in all areas of responsibility to create awareness of business objectives, awareness of expectations and recognition of exemplary performance.
  • Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members.
  • Prepares and conducts all interviews and follow hiring procedures according to policy. Actively support Human Resources with recruiting efforts. 
  • Identifies the developmental needs of others and coaches, mentors, or otherwise helps others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Provides the leadership, vision and direction to bring together and prioritize the departmental goals in a way that will be efficient and effective.
  • Solicits associate feedback, and reviews associate satisfaction results to identify and address associate problems or concerns.
  • Ensures recognition is taking place across areas of responsibility.
  • Helps ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards.
  • Establishes goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.

  • Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

 Desired Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (4 year) or equivalent in college education, trade school, or related work experience.
  • 8-10 years experience in an Engineering Leadership Role with a World Class Hotel Company or Related Industry.
