Position Overview
Our director of engineering will be responsible for maintaining the hotels' appearance, Building management systems, equipment and systems. Focus on quality and service standards. This position includes management of all work on the property. This is a hands-on position that requires active, vigorous leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Staff

  • Manage all engineering staff
  • Manage all scheduling of engineering staff
  • Manage engineering daily duties schedule
  • Manage engineering vacation requests
  • Manage engineering department corrective and disciplinary actions
  • Manage and maintain engineering standards according to hotel standard operating procedures and culture
  • Manage and maintain engineering department morale
  • Manage and maintain engineering staff grievances
  • Manage engineering staff recruitment/hiring and onboarding procedures
  • Manage engineering staff training and training schedules
  • Produce and manage departmental S.O.P's
  • Manage engineering department budget
  • Manage engineering department schedule and payroll

Engineering Department

  • Attend daily executive meeting
  • Create maintenance schedules for property and equipment
  • Perform weekly property inspection with hotels' General Manager
  • Ensure proper maintenance and upkeep to the hotel property and grounds
  • Directly oversee the actions of maintenance subcontractors.
  • Manage all vendor contacts
  • Maintain current knowledge of city and fire department regulations
  • Insure hotel compliance
  • Recommend minor or major repair or replacements of hotel equipment
  • Develop and follow-through on goal and action plans.
  • Insure compliance with maintenance policy and procedures
  • Interface with hotel's management team to insure a team work approach to the property's management.
  • Control the financial management of the maintenance department.
  • Daily tracking of expense vs. Budget.
  • Fully comply with company accounting control and purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Monthly analysis of the profit and loss statement.
  • Provide punch list and control quality of work performed for each project.
  • Ensure that proper key control is established and maintained.
  • Maintain an effective communication with local fire safety and police.
  • Maintain a log to ensure that all safety and security systems are maintained and inspected.
  • Provide an avenue for proper training in coordination with general manager and other department heads for guest safety and security.
  • Coordinate with front office manager emergency procedures manual and safety check list.
  • Responsible for tracking schedule warranty work for all new equipment.
  • Responsible for keeping active warranty files and work performed under warranty.
  • Establish a trace file for all permit inspections.

 

SKILLS

  • Two or more years of maintenance experience (construction or maintenance background, multi-unit or hotel experience ideal)
  • English skills, both written and verbal
  • Great organizational skills
  • Good knowledge of Excel and Word and property maintenance systems (ALICE, REX, etc.)
