We have transformed this hotel with a complete renovation and re-opened as the dazzling Marriott Orlando Downtown, conveniently located adjacent to the downtown UCF campus and nestled in the future Creative Village.  We are looking for a Director of Operations for our hotel that features 297 redesigned guest rooms and 15,992 square feet of sophisticated meeting accommodations.

Our Director of Operations has passion for navigating the hotel operations, setting the strategy and culture that creates incredible leaders, engaged associates, breakthrough guest and associate satisfaction score results, and successful financial results.  They are able to juggle many priorities, and know when to delegate, hold their team accountable for results and celebrate successes.

  • Strategic Leader for the Hotel Operations, which includes Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Outlets, and Culinary Departments.
  • Provides the leadership, vision and direction to bring together and prioritize the hotel goals in a way that will be efficient and effective.
  • Works with department managers to develop and implement departmental strategies and manage the brand service strategy and brand initiatives.
  • Clearly describe, assign, and delegate responsibility and authority for the operation of the various departments under his/her supervision.
  • Ensures that Hotel Operations meet the brand's standards with Guest Service, associate satisfaction, financial processes, and consistent adherence to policies and laws.
  • Evaluate changes in guest needs, market changes and industry trends, to recommend appropriate product/service and operational changes necessary to ensure guest and associate satisfaction and strong revenue and financial performance.
  • Evaluate levels of Guest satisfaction and monitor trends, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Understands associate and guest satisfaction results and developing game plans to attack need areas and expand on the strengths.
  • Ensure departments are setting GSS goals and conduct GSS meetings.
  • Assists in contract negotiations for the property (Valet, Housekeeping, etc.).
  • Maintain communication with the Executive Chef on developing and creating menus, culinary organization and procedures.
  • Covers management shifts in the operations if needed.
  • For department head positions, hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications and address performance concerns, as appropriate. 
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with associates and managers, ensures associates and managers do the same within the team.Clear the way for managers to guide and inspire their teams to ensure brilliant guest experience and realize business and financial goal achievement.
  • Ensures recognition is taking place across areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and manage execution of Rooms/Food and Beverage division budgets and revenue forecasts. Develop and implement controls for expense management. Ensure staff is utilizing labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs.
  • Prepare and train managers and associates on performing for a successful Brand Standard Audit.
  • Reviews financial statements and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and profit improvement.Represents operational departments in capital spending plans and actions.
  • Monitor revenues and costs on a daily basis and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Act on behalf of the General Manager in his/her absence when necessary.
  • Perform all other reasonable job duties as requested.

 Requirements:

  • 5 years of Hotel Management experience in a Director or Department Head position.
  • College degree desired.
  • Previous Hotel Director of Operations and Marriott Hotel experience a plus.
  • Able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
