BASIC PURPOSE:                          

Oversee the Human Resources functions including but not limited to:  selection, recruitment, employee relations, benefits, workers compensation, legal compliance, performance management, learning and development, training, on-boarding, and leading the day to day processes of the Human Resources Office.  This role has primary responsibility for creating and sustaining an engaging employee experience and is the driver of employee recognition.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Implement and develop hotel strategy, including but not limited to, coaching and counseling, recruitment, investigations, engagement, training, on-boarding, benefits and hiring and retaining the best employees
  2. Develop reward and recognition programs and training strategies
  3. Oversee all employee relations matters as they relate to Federal, State and local employment and civil rights laws, including, but not limited to, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, workers' compensation; NYSIF, C240 and C11 reports and comparable state and local laws, and general human and civil rights
  4. Evaluate termination process including any needed termination forms and conducting exit interviews
  5. J1 and H2B visa: recruitment and selection, job offers
  6. Insurance benefit selection and implementation.  Open Enrollment
  7. Ensure Workforce processes and reporting are implemented and adhered to.
  8. Direct liason to Labor Attorney and any legal issues
  9. Represent Gurney's at Job Fairs, Develop Intern Programs
  10. Monitor Workman's Compensation claims
  11. Ensure compliance with all HR and related operating procedures
  12. Plan, organize, and control employee related activities
  13. Monitor performance evaluation program and revise as necessary
  14. Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain handbook on policies and procedures
  15. Adhere to budget set for department, track expenses, explain any variances
  16. Ensure Staff Housing rules are being adhered to
  17. Participate and attend Planning Committee Meetings

Education: PHR , SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification Preferred.

Experience: Hotel Experience Preferred
