Outback Steakhouse is always looking for dedicated, fun-loving people to help make our restaurants a success.

As a Hot or Cold End Cook, you will be responsible for a strict adherence to recipe standards. The Hot and Cold End Cooks are committed to safe food handling, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards during the shift and prepares food with proper safety equipment, tools and recipe specs with further direction from Management. They are also responsible for knowing the food hierarchy in the storage of products in the walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer, and also keeping the dry storage organized. The Hot and Cold End Cooks are responsible for preparing fresh, delicious food that looks great, is committed to cleaning and maintaining each line station, and monitoring ticket times and food quality.

Other Responsibilities: 

  1. Prepare all items for lunch and dinner; sauces, soups, appetizers, main entrees, etc. 
  2. Rearrange the line and steam table to facilitate luncheon cooking and service.
  3. Prepare all orders as turned in by wait staff and ensures all orders cooked quickly and according to order; also ensures that food leaves the kitchen in peak condition.
  4. Learn menus, recipes, preparation, and presentation.
  5. Ensure that all food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding temperatures.
  6. Cook only sufficient food in advance to cover expected business volume and to maintain quality.
  7. Prepare all food needed by other kitchen departments which is best prepared by this department.
  8. Prepare all food for next shift and for the following day as required and directed by Supervisor.
  9. Maintain the work area, including all counter tops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with state, county, and company health regulations and work safety regulations.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills: 

  1. Skillfully use hand tools or machines needed for work. Measure, cut, or otherwise work on materials or objects with great precision.
  2. Use arithmetic or shop geometry to figure amounts of material needed, dimensions to be followed and cost of materials.
  3. Read recipes of items to be prepared. 

Job Qualifications/Experience: 

  1. HS Diploma or equivalent
  2. Minimum 6 months cooking experience at a full service restaurant or hotel. More experience considered a huge asset.
  3. Safe Food Handlers Certified, an asset
