Report to: Food and Beverage Manager, Lodge Manager

Hours: 7am-5 pm, 5 days a week or as required

Objective:  To supervise the food service at the Buffalo Mountain cafe.  To prepare food items and to ensure operations run efficiently and profitably, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and service.  There are many facets to this position including assisting with training and shift supervision

 

 Basic Duties

  • To prepare food items for sale at the café that meet the needs of the concept.  Some menu design may be required based on business levels. 
  • Pricing food items to meet budget guidelines
  •  This is a hands-on culinary focused position - the Coffee Shop Supervisor is expected on the floor at all times, whether in a supervisory or shift execution role.  90% of the position is hands on - 10% administrative
  • Must be prepared to oversee and to provide guidance and training to other staff members
  • Maintaining the current process for inventory, ordering, cash handling, ongoing communication with the F&B Manager and other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate with Pastry Chef, Head Chef and Food and Beverage Manager about stock levels mand ordering supplies.
  • Fostering a team attitude - supervising all staff members and to ensure that communication and standards are as indicated in training and operations manual
  • Ensuring that the coffee shop is clean, tidy, organized, and according to provincial occupational health and safety standards
  • To assist with service counter in the event they require assistance with food service, making drinks and bussing tables
  • To provide the example to all staff re: grooming policies, professionalism, vocabulary and support throughout every shift
  • Working service counter when required
  • Assist with appropriate staff performance management
  • To deal with client concerns and issues immediately and effectively
  • Any other duties as required or communicated by the F&B Manager

 

Requirements/Experience:

  • Culinary background and previous Supervisory/Management Experience is required
  • Previous café or quick serve experience is preferred
  • Must have the ability to work all shifts and to provide support with all daily service
  • Must have the ability to handle any guest issues or staffing issues with guidance from F&B Manager as required
  • PROSERVE certification required
  • Word, Excel and Outlook experience required, Squirrel POS
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • To be able to endure long periods of standing (sitting, bending and lifting may be required)
