Objective:  To oversee a high standard of cleanliness throughout the guest rooms and in all public places at the lodge.  To ensure all guest's requests are handled promptly and courteously by the housekeeping department.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To oversee all jobs undertaken by the housekeeping department and maintaining of criteria set for the department.
  • To help hire, supervise and coach all housekeeping staff and ensure that knowledge of cleaning supplies and techniques are maintained.
  • Creating daily checklists for housekeepers, housemen and supervisors and oversee that they are completing them.
  • Ensure that incoming linen is ordered and has the upkeep and cleaning/amenities inventories are kept stocked.
  • Ensure a monthly ordering of supplies is done.
  • To keep a monthly inventory of stock in various storage areas around the property
  • Submit updated reports to the front desk on room statuses and ensure that all rooms are ready by 4:00 pm.
  • Ensure that labor cost and other related expenses are kept within budgeted goals.
  • Keep an accurate log of all lost & found items.
  • Report all maintenance defects in the rooms and public places to Maintenance.
  • To ensure that all staff are up to date with any mandatory training such as WHMIS
  • To attend any required meeting, seminars and training sessions.
  • Create schedules on a weekly basis.
  • Create monthly extra duties for housekeepers, housemen & Supervisors.
  • Perform Corrective Interviews and Performance Reviews when needed.
  • To perform other associated duties as required.
  • To maintain a very high standard when cleaning/checking guest rooms and public areas so as to set an example for housekeepers and supervisors.
  • To complete payroll for the housekeeping department (every second Sunday) and other administrative paperwork needed.
  • Assist housekeepers by giving guidance in their performance if required by encouraging productivity, efficiency and improving in their quality of work.
  • Help with actual cleaning of rooms when required.

 

Requirements/Experience:

  • Previous hotel/hospitality experience preferred within Housekeeping or Laundry personnel.
  • Minimum 2 year of previous Supervisory role required.
  • Excellent English interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Other languages are an asset.
  • Communication abilities with employees of different nationalities.
  • Good problem- solving skills and strong negotiation skills.
  • Computer literacy including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Highly organized and self- motivated.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to emergency situations.
  • Physical demands, sitting, standing, bending, lifting (up to 40 lbs.)
  • Will be required to work outside in all seasons (Winter, spring, summer and Fall)
  • Outgoing, embraces challenged, ambitious.
