Catering & Sales Manager

Job Description

  • Obtain weekly sales call, telemarketing, site tour and entertainment goals on a weekly basis
  • Book and service SMERF groups as well as meeting room business (1,200 sq. ft. meeting space)
  • Negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines
  • Actively prospect and qualify new business in the above mentioned markets
  • Duties also include contract review and facilitating communication before, during and post event with pertinent hotel staff to ensure a high level of service
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and current clients
  • Draft proposal, letters and contracts to brand standard with use of CI/TY.                  
  • Negotiate group Sleeping & Meeting Room contracts for clients
  • Entertain clients as needed
  • Prepare site inspections of hotel for prospective clients as well as walk-in clients
  • Detail and prepare Group Resumes, Banquet Event Orders and Event Checks for groups/ meeting rooms to Department Managers
  • Maintain detailed sales activities in CI/TY
  • Create all new group bookings in CI/TY and maintain through PMS system; adhering to group cut off times, room wash counts and room count increases
  • Oversee service and billing issues for your clients/group  
  • Assist Group related walk-in clients and inquiry calls
  • Produce Weekly Recap Report and submit to DOS by Friday 3PM of each week
  • Participate in weekly Sales Meetings and manager meetings every other week
  • Attend sales training offered by PHM and Marriott
  • Participate in Quarterly Reviews; including but not limited to detailing reporting information
  • Oversee operational area that pertain to group/account to ensure accurate procedures in place
  • Respond to leads in CI/TY and from GSO's from above market segments
  • Assist in planning yearly client events
  • Maintain Account Profiles for above Market Segments
  • Network with guests in the restaurant/lobby/front desk at least one morning and one evening per week to generate new leads and solidify current business  
  • Work late evenings and on weekends when large groups require extra coverage
  • Train to be proficient in checking in large groups when front desk requires assistance
  • Maintain and keep accurate files by monthly, quarterly, and yearly numbers
  • Distribute Catering Contracts to F&B/ Café Staff- including provide Reader Board packet and meeting room signage
  • Book and service all catering groups, adhere to Meeting Room Free Sell Policy
  • Oversee the final product in the meeting rooms, inquiring about service feedback and rebooking options
  • Develop and maintain a creative and competitive catering menu
  • Participate in the weekly Tuesday revenue calls
  • Carry out reasonable requests by management.
  • Maintain good working relationships and be effective communicators between Sales and all other departments

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of hotel Catering and Sales management experience in the hospitality industry or comparable experience preferred.
  • Formal education in the hospitality field or related area, community involvement and/or professional association is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills required to work well with a variety of people to properly sell and service customers in a professional manner.
  • Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and experience in preparing and presenting proposals.
  • Excellent organizational skills are essential, must be able to multi task, have outstanding attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism and attention to detail.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays if business demands this.
  • Must have strong conflict resolution skills and strong negotiation skills.
  • Must be guest service focused, and understand expectations of hospitality demands as well as market trends.
