Job Description

As a member of the development team, you will be a part of developing teh net generation of user interfaces for the company's web and mobile based software systems.

Your combination of professional backend and frontend development experience along with a good sense for UX will be put to good use on projects requiring novel approaches to familiar problems. You will have occasion to do some devops work to help coordinate large software rollouts and sit in on client calls.

This is a full-time onsite employment position.

Technical Expertise

Essential Skills

  • Very high level of proficiency employing HTML and CSS for layout
  • Ability to conceptualize and mock up UX flows
  • Strong familiarity and comfort implementing component interactivity using frameworks like Angular and Reach, or Vanilla Javascript and jQuery
  • Ability to wire up data to UI elements from models/stores
  • Ability to use git version control

General Qualities

  • Familiar and experience with current best practices for mobile and desktop UX
  • Conversant in contemporary software design patterns, common devops tools (npm modules, webpack etc.)

Preferred Additional Expertise

  • Unit and end to end  testing
  • Node.js + express, or equivalents from PHP, ruby, python, etc.
  • mongodb ( or similar, including storage patterns) or mySql/Oracle/etc. (including complex queries, optimization)
  • defensive programming, XSS and injection attack prevention
  • build systems such as grunt, gulp, browserify, etc.
  • cordova (PhoneGap)
  • Sysadmin: apache or nginx, /etc/*,rsync, cron jobs, creating Windows services

Education

Computer science, software engineering or similar university degree, or equivalent professional experience. This is not an entry level position. Exposure to the hospitality industry is a definite asset.
