POSITION PROFILE

The Battery is searching for a dynamic and inspirational Training Manager to maintain the company's high standards of service and support a culture of continuous learning in an engaging environment.  The Training Manager will partner with the leadership team to identify and address employee and organizational development needs.   Since this role is all about raising the bar, we are looking for someone with a proven track record of up-leveling team and individual performance and has a passion for providing service excellence. We're looking for someone who can partner effectively across departments, levels, and communication styles to assess and tackle learning needs, and who can employ a strategic mix of different learning and development solutions to drive the behavior changes and improved results that enable teams to win and provide excellent service to our club members.   

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works in conjunction with the HR Team, the Training Manager will; design, implement, deliver and evaluate new training programs, prioritizing food & beverage service.
  • Meets with leadership team on a regular basis and develops relationships with key stakeholders to support training efforts to ensure that learning and development initiatives are aligned with both individual and team needs.
  • Routinely observes service behaviors of employees by being present on the floor during service hours and provides feedback to individuals and/or managers.
  • Use effective training methods to ensure employees have a good understanding of club member satisfaction and can demonstrate guest satisfaction skills.
  • Ensures annual compliance training programs are up to date and completed.
  • Promotes and informs employees about all training programs.
  • Helps employees identify specific behaviors that will contribute to service excellence.
  • Ensures employees receive on-going training to understand guest expectations.
  • Establishes guidelines so employees understand expectations and parameters.
  • Develops specific training to improve service performance.
  • Drives brand values and philosophy in all training and development activities.
  • Meets regularly with participants to assess progress and address concerns and/or re-trains as appropriate.
  • Ensures all training and development activities (department specific and general property training) are strategically linked to the organization's mission and vision.
  • Identifies performance gaps and works with managers to develop and implement appropriate training to improve performance.
  • Aligns current training and development programs to effectively impact key business indicators.
  • Manages enrollment and attendance at training classes.
  • Reviews comment cards, member satisfaction results and other data to identify areas of improvement.
  • With HR, responsible for engagement activities while ensuring employee satisfaction.
  • Participate in all Human Resources activities and projects as needed.
  • Work closely with entire HR Team and Directors to promote a Great Place to Work philosophy.
  • With the HR Director, participates in the development of the Training budget as required.
  • Measure and track employee progress in their training and provide the HR Director with reports that can be addressed in individual reviews and counseling sessions.
  • Foster a culture of service at The Battery.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must have and be able to do all of the following:

  • Must have a minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources or related professional area; certified trainer.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Psychology or related discipline required.
  • Club, hotel or hospitality industry experience, specifically in the luxury market is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work to a high standard with great attention to detail.
  • Must be motivated & charismatic individual that inspires the team.
  • Must have strong planning and organizational skills in order to strategically manage an annual training program.
  • Train the Trainer certification and experience designing training courses is preferred.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand Spanish is a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills.
