We have transformed this hotel with a complete renovation and re-opened as the dazzling Marriott Orlando Downtown, conveniently located adjacent to the downtown UCF campus and nestled in the future Creative Village.  We are looking for an Assistant Front Office Manager for our hotel that features 297 redesigned guest rooms and 15,992 square feet of sophisticated meeting accommodations.

Our Assistant Front Office Manager has a passion for providing Brilliant Service for our guests, and creating a positive and fun environment for our associates.  They are able to ensure our associates are trained and confident to make the guests' stay enjoyable, and are always visible and available as a resource to them.  As the right hand of the Senior Rooms Manager, the Assistant FOM ensures that the Front Desk, At Your Service (PBX), and Guest Services areas are functioning smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage the Front Office team by creating an environment that's engaging, where motivated people want to learn, perform to the best of their abilities, and advance.
  • Provides excellent guest service by being readily available for all guests.
  • Ensure that associates are, at all times, attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and other associates.
  • Reviews occupancy flow patterns throughout the day to ensure proper department coverage and an outstanding level of service.
  • Communicates with key departments (Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Revenue Management, Sales and Event Planning) to ensure brilliant guest experience from arrival to departure.
  • Respond to all guest requests, problems, and concerns presented in person or through comment cards, letters and/or phone calls, in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner. Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Works in partnership with the Front Office Leadership to:
    • Evaluate levels of Guest satisfaction and monitor trends, with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Post and communicate all guest satisfaction results including all guest satisfaction forms, comment cards and guest letters.
    • Understands associate and guest satisfaction results and developing game plans to attack need areas and expand on the strengths.
  • Works shifts at the Front Desk as needed.
  • Display a positive, hands on leadership style to attract, retain and motivate the associates; hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications and recommend discipline and termination, as appropriate. 
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with associates and ensures associates do the same within the team.
  • Ensures recognition is taking place across areas of responsibility.
  • Coordinates efforts with the Front Office Leadership to:
    • Prepare and conduct all interviews and follow hiring procedures according to policy. Actively support Human Resources with recruiting efforts. 
    • Identifies the developmental needs of others and coaches, mentors, or otherwise helps others to improve their knowledge or skills.
    • Provides the leadership, vision and direction to bring together and prioritize the departmental goals in a way that will be efficient and effective.
    • Solicits associate feedback, and reviews associate satisfaction results to identify and address associate problems or concerns.
  • Follow procedures for processing payroll correctly to ensure correct payment of associate paychecks.
  • Supervises same day selling procedures and Up-selling techniques to maximize room revenue and property occupancy.
  • Uses budgets, operating statements and payroll progress reports as needed to assist in the management of the Room Operations.
  • Understands the impact of Room Operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives.

 Requirements:

  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand and walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

Desired Qualifications

  • Three years hotel Front Desk experience.
  • Previous Hotel Front Desk management or supervisory experience desired.
  • College degree preferred.
