Guest Services Job Definition: Provide superior guest service by following all of The Chanler service standards. Deliver professional and warm pre-arrival/reservations, arrival, and departure experiences for all of our guests, as well as extending the same level of service throughout the guest stay. Guest Service Representatives are also expected to work closely with every other department to comply with guests' needs, safety, and enjoyment during their stay. 

Duties & Tasks: 

  • Handle guest pre-arrivals, arrivals and departures according to hotel standards and procedures.
  • Pre-register designated guests and prepare welcome cards as needed.
  • Communicate pertinent guest information to designated departments/personnel (i.e., special requests, housekeeping preferences, and amenity delivery)
  • Maintain confidentiality of all guests and hotel information.
  • Employ attention to detail in order to ensure security of guest room access.
  • Understand and execute all accounting standards ensuring accurate settlement of folios, routing of charges and adjustments.
  • Maintain complete knowledge at all times of all hotel features/services, hours of operation, room types, numbers, layout, décor, appointments and locations, room rates, special packages and promotions.
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service.

Requirements: 

  • High School Degree is required.
  • College Degree is preferred.
  • Previous hotel and/or customer service experience is required.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management and co-workers, both in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently input information into computer systems.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department.
  • Ability to compute basic and accurate mathematical calculations 
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, dealing with many arrivals and departures within a short period of time

Physical Requirements: 

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance 
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity 
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift 
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
