Sash Restaurant and Wine Bar is Chef Sash Simpson's first restaurant. Located in Toronto's upscale Summerhill neighbourhood, Sash Restaurant offers seasonal selections of flavourful, internationally inspired cuisine alongside an expansive wine bar.

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Executive Chef, the Restaurant Manager is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the restaurant including staffing, cost controls, staff training, budgeting, administration and floor management during service. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate leadership in creating a culture that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and wine
  • Manage and train staff deliver daily briefings, provide feedback, maintain a high level of employee morale
  • Develop and monitor staff work schedules
  • Regularly monitor and achieve the Sash points of technical service and points of details
  • Build and maintain relationships with guests, team members and senior management alike
  • Follow bar, beverage and wine control procedures
  • Assist with the tracking of sales, invoicing, and managing inventory
  • Participate on the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring that the Occupational Health & Safety Act and WSIB procedures are being followed
  • Build relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Additional duties as assigned or required

 Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business/Hospitality Management/Food and Beverage Management and/or equivalent an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in an upscale restaurant
  • SMARTSERVE certification required
  • Foundational wine knowledge is an asset
  • Exceptional guest service orientation
  • Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, and change priorities constantly as needed in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and business acumen
  • Proficiency in MS Office. Experience with Silverware point of sale system preferred
  • Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule, often including evenings, weekends and holidays
