We have transformed this hotel with a complete renovation and re-opened as the dazzling Marriott Orlando Downtown, conveniently located adjacent to the downtown UCF campus and nestled in the future Creative Village.  We are looking for a General Maintenance position for our hotel that features 297 redesigned guest rooms and 15,992 square feet of sophisticated meeting accommodations.

Our Hotel General Maintenance position ensures everything is working just right.  Whenever something isn't working, they are the one everyone calls, and they are off to the rescue!  They are proactive and continually looking for the little details that need to be fixed, and persistently maintaining equipment daily to ensure it is running well. 

Responsibilities:

  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests. Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little or no supervision.
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical and safety condition of facilities with daily walk throughs of the building in order to determine the type of work required.  Note safety hazards, lack of illumination, broken equipment (such as ice makers, fans, pumps), areas needing painting, repair work, renovations and the issues with furniture and equipment.  Communicate areas that need attention for assignment, or take immediate corrective action when needed.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical equipment including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
  • Display thorough knowledge of building systems, emergency response, and building documentation including reading standard blue prints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC.
  • Display working knowledge and skills of the following: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and/or general building management.
  • Display ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
  • Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
  • Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough clean up of the painting or repair area.
  • Display working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems.
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to promote a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

 

Requirements:

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing of objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

 

Desired Experience:

  • Post high school training in engineering/maintenance related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 year of building maintenance experience.
  • HVAC Certification a plus.
  • Hotel Experience a plus.
