Lead, manage and champion the culture of the properties in the J Hospitality Collection. Plan, develop, coordinate and direct the human resource function to attract, retain, develop and motivate employees in a cost effective manner in accordance with Interstate Hotels and Resorts policies and procedures and federal, state and local laws and regulations while limiting liabilities and promoting a safe, fair, positive work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Position the Collection as the "preferred employer" in the area by maintaining strong community relations and implementing fair and consistent reward and recognition programs. (25%)
  • Counsel and train managers on employee relations issues and resolve employee grievances. Implement employee relations programs to maintain a pro-employee environment that increases retention. Partner with Interstate's corporate employee relations professionals. (20%)
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures along with state, federal and local laws and regulations as they pertain to every facet of human resources functions. Implement and maintain safety programs including workers compensation and hurricane preparedness. Participate in audits to check compliance. (20%)
  • Analyze and publish human resource metrics to build favorable performance in recruitment, retention and safety. (5%)
  • Formulate budgets for employee relations, wages and staffing. Participate in annual salary surveys and recommend adjustments to pay ranges to the executive teams and owners. Manage the salary program within the corporate policies and procedures and and maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations. (5%)



Requirements

Education: Four year college degree.

Experience: Eight years human resources management experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.  Professional certification (SPHR or PHR) preferred.

Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the HR profession.  This includes knowledge required for management of people, recruiting and retention, training, compensation, labor laws, safety, employee relations and performance improvement, applicant tracking, HRIS and I-9s.

Travel required: Local travel frequently.  Regional travel once or twice per year.
