Position Overview

Our Assistant Engineering Director will be responsible for maintaining the hotels appearance, Building management systems, equipment and systems. Focus on quality and service standards. 

This position includes management of all work on the property to give full support to all departments and perform the general and specific duties of the Director of Engineering in his/her absence. 

As a member of the management team you will be expected to lead by example and assist in guiding your team into achieving outstanding service and performance goals, while motivating everyone on your team to work proactively and ensure the success of the property.

Key Responsibilities

Staff

  • Assist in managing all engineering staff
  • Assist in managing all scheduling of engineering staff
  • Assist in managing maintenance schedule
  • Assist in managing engineering vacation requests
  • Assist in managing engineering department corrective and disciplinary actions
  • Assist in managing and maintaining engineering standards according to hotel standard operating procedures and culture
  • Assist in managing engineering staff grievances
  • Assist in managing engineering staff recruitment/hiring and onboarding procedures
  • Deal effectively with people, creating teamwork, motivating and using an uplifting and lead-by example leadership approach

 

Engineering Department

  • Assist in creating maintenance schedules for property and equipment
  • Ensure proper maintenance and upkeep to the hotel property and grounds
  • Assist in overseeing the actions of maintenance subcontractors.
  • Assist in managing all vendor contacts
  • Maintain current knowledge of city and fire department regulations
  • Insure hotel compliance  Recommend minor or major repair or replacements of hotel equipment
  • Assist in developing and follow-through on goal and action plans.
  • Assist with compliance with maintenance policy and procedures
  • Interface with hotel's management team to insure a team work approach to the property's management.
  • Fully comply with company accounting control and purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain punch list and control quality of work performed for each project.

 

Assistant Engineering Director

  • Ensure that proper key control is established and maintained.
  • Maintain an effective communication with local fire safety and police.
  • Maintain a log to ensure that all safety and security systems are maintained and inspected.
  • Provide an avenue for proper training in coordination with general manager and other department heads for guest safety and security.
  • Coordinate with front office manager emergency procedures manual and safety check list.
  • Assist with tracking schedule warranty work for all new equipment.

 

Skills

Two or more years of maintenance experience (construction or maintenance background, multiunit or hotel experience ideal) 

  • English skills, both written and verbal
  • Great organizational skills
  • Good knowledge of excel and word and property maintenance systems (ALICE, REX, e.t.c)
  • Leadership skills
