Job Purpose: 

The Electrician is a "hands on" position that is responsible for performing preventive maintenance work that could involve the use and operation of complex and highly technical equipment and techniques. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, system components, panels, equipment, and fixtures. He/she will ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Repair or replace wiring, system components, panels, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  2. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  3. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  4. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  5. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects.
  6. Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  7. Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
  8. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  9. Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
  10. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  11. Read and effectively interpret electrical drawings and ladder diagrams.
  12. Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  13. Advised management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  14. Maintain current electrician's license and driver's license
  15. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  16. Performing other duties as assigned.
  17. Familiarity to all electrical safety guidelines and lock code.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

 

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field required.
  • At least three years progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Trade school and/or College course work in related field helpful.
  • Must possess current electrician license (this license must be acquired/presented within 75 days of hire).  Must be kept up to date on ongoing basis.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • High voltages experience up to 480, three phase
