We have transformed this hotel with a complete renovation and re-opened as the dazzling Marriott Orlando Downtown, conveniently located adjacent to the downtown UCF campus and nestled in the future Creative Village.  We are looking for an Event Coordinator for our hotel that features 297 redesigned guest rooms and 15,992 square feet of sophisticated meeting accommodations.

Our Event Coordinator helps ensure events and meetings at the hotel are extraordinary.   They coordinate with Sales and the Operational Departments to ensure consistent, brilliant service throughout the pre-event, event and post-event phases of the group experience.

 Essential:

  • Assists with on-property event planning and execution, and provide support for the Director of Event Management and Executive Meeting Manager.
  • Contact client to obtain as much information as possible either by phone or correspondence.
  • Utilize CI/TY to generate contracts and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and support daily distribution of BEOs, reader boards and change logs.
  • Process all changes to Banquet Event Orders as given by the client on a timely basis, following departmental procedures.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for guests organizing and attending meeting events at the hotel and ensure their experience is flawless.
  • Meet group contact prior to functions, and ensure that all arrangements are agreeable.
  • Respond to and try to fulfill any special banquet event arrangements.
  • Respond to all guest requests, problems, and concerns presented in person or through comment cards, letters and/or phone calls, in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner. Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Use organization skills and a caring personality to keep the sales and events department running efficiently.
  • Answers calls promptly and welcome guests graciously in a professional and hospitable manner.
  • Be knowledgeable and utilize the CI/TY, GXP, Red Coat Direct systems.
  • Be able to ensure the information and messages are communicated promptly to guests, managers and other departments as needed.
  • Answer guest questions about the hotel and services: Hours of operation, rates and room types, packages, promotions, restaurants, special events).
  • Serve as the point of contact for guests and communicate with them by phone and email to respond to questions and requests.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 4 Year college degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years hotel events experience for a major hotel chain or management company.
  • Experience in CI/TY and other Marriott Sales Systems is a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task responsibilities and prioritize duties to meet deadlines and demands.
