JOB DESCRIPTION: To act as a Coordinator for the company regarding all legal matters concerning sales contracts, service agreements and visa/residency processes. This position will directly support MDM Hotel Group corporate, and Corporate Human Resources. While this position cannot offer legal advice, they will work closely with lawyers on legal matters, concerning but not limited to company general liability claims, labor or employment related claims, worker's compensation claims, visas and residencies, evaluation of contracts with third parties or guests/customers, etc. Perform basic research and draft documents for MDM corporate and/or attorney review. Apply for, track, and renew if appropriate various hotel and business licenses such as alcohol license, elevator license, etc.  Perform Administrative tasks as needed always with the approvals from the Corporate Executive Team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Partnering with Human Resources - Informing and interacting with Human Resources on employment and labor issues as needed.
  • Act as a Liaison between the company and company approved attorneys and/or law firms on legal matters. - Maintain accurate files and records of each case. Perform research and provide backup as needed. Follow up on all requests and due dates.
  • Act as a Liaison between the company and insurance companies - this includes but is not limited to Guest Liability, Worker's compensation, vehicle, EPLI insurance companies.
  • Managing According to SOP's and LSOP's - Monitoring processes and evaluating information according to SOP and LSOP requirements.
  • Developing and Building Teams - Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members. Coordinating efforts related to research, meetings, depositions, etc.
  • Coaching and Developing Others - Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills as it relates to loss prevention and protecting the company's assets.
  • Modeling Appropriate Behaviors - Serving as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors.
  • Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with the Law and Legal Standards - Using relevant information and iividual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-year degree from an accredited college/university in Legal studies or Business Administration, or related major;
  • 2 years' experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.

The position requires advanced knowledge of the law and legal procedures, along with leadership and management skills. Experience in a specific legal practice area is highly preferred.

Candidates must understand legal concepts, terminology, principles and procedures. Experience in one or more specialized practice areas is a plus.
