Job Profile: Night Cleaners (NC's) are a critical part of the kitchen team responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the work areas and equipment in the kitchen, courtside café and employee cafeteria.  Their hard work complying with club standards and Health Department regulations ensures that Hillcrest retains its rating and reputation as a fine dining location and employer of choice.  They recognize the importance of their role and its impact on the work environment of their colleagues in the kitchen.  NC's view no task as insignificant and take pride in providing outstanding service and contributing to the success of their team and the Club as a whole.  They work on special projects and perform various incidental duties to meet member needs and create lasting memories.

  • Deep clean all kitchen appliances (ovens, grills, char-grills, fryers, filters and steamers), walls, canopies, stainless steel dish machines and other kitchen equipment
  • Clean the entire employee cafeteria kitchen, the café kitchen and pool kitchen on a daily basis.
  • Pick up and disposal of trash, cardboard; sweep and mop floors
  • Clean all food and beverage areas including worktables, refrigerators, garbage cans and waste barrels
  • Complete washing of all china, glassware, and silver pieces according to sanitation standards
  • Restock kitchen for the next shift; stock the hot line with adequate supply of chinaware, plate covers and anything necessary to present food
  • Properly care for and maintain all equipment in racking stacking, and storage to avoid breakage
  • Use all machines according to the manufacturer's instructions and Club guidelines; reporting any malfunctioning or damaged equipment immediately and taking out of service..
  • Use and store all chemicals according to manufacturer's instructions and Club guidelines and using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Monitor and refill soap detergent dispenser as needed
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all food safety and Health Department requirements. Able to respond to questions asked by supervisor or Health Department Inspector as related to the job of Night Cleaner.
  • Attend all safety training (including CPR/First Aid training as required) and develop an understanding of club safety policies and procedures; read and absorb all literature related to safety; use personal protective equipment whenever required; use all machinery, equipment and chemicals according to manufacturer's guidelines and in accordance with OSHA and health department guidelines.
  • Make cleanliness a priority, presenting a healthy, natural appearance.
  • Be polite, courteous, helpful, cooperating to help fellow workers whenever appropriate, contributing to a "teamwork" atmosphere
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  1. Previous cleaning experience required
  2. This is a multi-shift position requiring evening, weekend and holiday shifts, with no guarantee of forty (40) hours per week
  3. A team player able to work well with others
  4. Attention to detail
  5. Punctual and reliable
  6. Able to work well independently, juggling multiple responsibilities and meeting deadlines
  7. A service-oriented personality
  8. Able to communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders; to follow oral and written instructions and to memorize necessary information.
  9. Exceptional grooming habits, maintaining a clean and complete uniform as designated by Management.

PHYSICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Exposure to hot and cold water and cleaning chemicals.  Excessive standing, walking, bending, stretching throughout shift.  Position requires frequent stooping, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting at the neck and waist, reaching above and below shoulder level, pushing and pulling; and using dominant hand and fingers to feel and grasp, push and pull (simple and power) and for fine manipulation. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
