We are looking for a Part Time General Labourers, who will report to the Manager of Client Services to provide general labour support and assist with the set-up and tear down of events.

Job Summary:

Responsible for set-up and tear-down of events throughout the International Centre. Assembles events according to specific configuration.This position will need to operate with the building's infrastructure and maintain a positive customer experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set meeting rooms and banquet functions per specifications or as given by the Manager (e.g. straighten chairs, replenish water requirements as specified or requested).
  • Ensure proper care, control, movement, and storage of meeting supplies, and equipment such as tables, chairs, and risers.
  • Responsible for the set-ups/tear-down and installation of chairs, tables, ticket booths, staging, etc., for all shows and events at The International Centre.
  • Service meeting room upon customer request including locating and delivering convention material to designated location.
  • Fix and repair equipment, as necessary, and advise Management of any broken or defective equipment.
  • Check and adjust heating and A/C as required.
  • Work closely with the Engineering department, vendors, clients and customers; provide support to other departments and staff as required.

Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work all shifts which include: evening, midnights, days, weekends and holidays.
  • Working conditions may require working outside for long periods of time, in the extreme cold and/or heat.
  • Required to climb on ladders etc. to increased heights.
  • Required to lift to lift between 50-75 lbs on a regular and continuing basis.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

  • One year material handler/general labourer relevant experience (convention facilities experience is a definite asset).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Detail oriented and has a strong ability to accommodate and adjust to meet changing and competing deadlines.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Hold a valid and current forklift certification for operating counterbalance, scissor lift, and bucket lift.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment with varying weights on a regular and continuing basis. May be required to lift up to 75 lbs.
