We are currently looking for a Jr. Accountant with hospitality experience to join our team.

As the Junior Accountant, you will assist the Controller in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the company. The successful candidate will work alongside staff, be engaged in the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions and verify financial information for the preparation of budgets and financial statements and assist with communicating financial reporting and internal control requirements as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all assigned event / licence agreements are processed accurately and on a timely basis, specifically, invoices are billed in accordance with the agreements and receivables are followed up on
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE
  • Prepare monthly Food & Beverage financial statements and analysis
  • Perform spot checks on monthly F & B inventory
  • Prepare and maintain continuity schedules for various accounts
  • Assist with month end closure processes
  • Prepare monthly HST remittance schedules
  • Assist with the review of coding and approval of A/P invoices
  • Perform various account analyses and variance analysis
  • Review A/R reports weekly with Accounting Clerks provide update to Management
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets
  • Provide guidance / assistance to other accounting staff as and when needed
  • Other projects / reporting as required

What does a successful candidate look like?

  • Working towards completing Accounting designation (CA, CMA and/or CGA) with at least three years' experience.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry required.
  • Responsible, professional experience that can attest to a comprehensive knowledge of broad-based financial accounting functions and full cycle accounting.
  • Demonstrates knowledge/experience of systems applications relating to financial accounting.
  • Excellent communications, writing and interpersonal skill required.
  • Experience in commercial real estate would be an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
