Executive Housekeeper

SUMMARY

The Executive Housekeeper is a key element in a team of service professionals, providing a very personal, detailed and seamless service to guests, from their arrival until departure without imposing themselves. The role requires an acute attention to detail and the ability to anticipate guest's needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the House Manager, the Executive Housekeeper and coordinates activities of household employees engaged in cooking, cleaning, and related domestic duties: Oversees serving of lunch and dinner, setting the table, and directing table service, or personally serving at the table.

Addition duties would include, mixing and serving cocktails, wine and other drinks; answering telephones and delivering messages; receiving and announcing guests; prepping food for the Chef.

The overall responsibilities of the Executive Housekeeper include but are not limited to:

Job Duties:

  • Manage, direct, and oversee the housekeeping staff including daily schedules, duties and ongoing training
  • Travelling with family, providing a full valet service to include, packing, unpacking, personal assistant duties whilst traveling.
  • Responsibility of all clothes, valet services and organizing of wardrobes
  • Orders of all household supplies including cleaning equipment, food, clothes, special coffees or anything requested
  • High standard of cleaning in a mansion style home with a number of rooms and bathrooms
  • Maintain knowledge of social etiquette and formal service
  • Greet and attend to household guests
  • Organize household budgets, inventory, and maintenance
  • Care and clean fine china, crystal and silver
  • Prepare formal table settings and perform drinks and table service.
  • Maintain the wine cellar including a knowledge on the purchase, storage and serving of wines and spirits
  • Assist in the organization of social events at home
  • Maintain a knowledge of the security systems
  • Liaise with the employer's private office staff as required
  • Provide personal care to residents and guests
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of employees who cook, clean, and perform other domestic duties
  • Oversee breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, including setting of table; directing meal service, or personally serving meals
  • Perform other services as requested, such as cook; mix and serve cocktails, wine, and other drinks
  • Ironing, washing laundry, hand washing cashmere, silk, ironing on roller
  • Answer phone and deliver messages
  • Receive and announce guests

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in private household service and directly-related prior experience or other hospitality industry experience
  • Experience organizing inventory and budgets
  • Experience in caring for silver, brass, antiques, fine furniture, fine china and fine art
  • Experience Laying out formal table settings for meals (sliver service for formal occasions)
  • Butler experience and service experience
  • Cooking experience
  • Bar service and cocktail preparation experience
  • Willing to do some travel
  • Minimum High school diploma
  • College Diploma in hospitality or relate field, an asset
