JOB OVERVIEW:

Sells hotel guestrooms, catering services, and banquet facilities through direct client contact to maximize total rooms revenues and profits.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes client base of organizations, as assigned in various segments including and not exclusive to:

Corporate, government, association, SMERFE and leisure through direct outside and inside sales efforts for the purpose of securing business for the hotel to ensure that predetermined sales and revenue expectations are met or exceeded. Actively prospects and qualifies new business.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with clients in order to produce group, corporate transient and/ or convention business.
  • Achieves personal and team goals as assigned.
  • Negotiates guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines.  Confirms in writing to the client all requirements via sales contract.
  • Monitors and handles inquiry calls and provides client proposals in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Conducts site tours of the hotel guestrooms and banquet facilities; entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures.
  • Maintains client data base and updates information daily in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Produces weekly sales-related reports and sales forecasts for assigned area of responsibility. Accurately forecasts all bookings and cancellations.
  • Attends and represents company at trade shows, industry events, and off-site client presentations, as required.
  • Participates in travel to feeder markets for client appointments frequently throughout the year.
  • Follows up with clients regularly during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings.
  • Promotes teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include all hotel departments.
  • May assist in developing and implementing the sales plans. May also participate in the annual Sales Marketing planning process.   Assists the Director of Sales with the implementation and achievement of the Sales Marketing plan.
  • Maintains a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates (if applicable).
  • Fulfills Lobby Duty shifts as required
  • Attends Client Receptions as required
  • Fulfills Guest Relation Manager Duty shifts as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

HEALTH AND SAFETY:

 

  • Follow safe work procedures as outlined in Departmental Policy and Procedures manuals, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Know and comply with all Occupational Health & Safety regulations, as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ministry of Labour.
  • Report all injuries or illnesses to a supervisor or manager immediately.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

Education/ Experience:

  • Post secondary education is required, a hospitality or travel related discipline preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in sales is required.       Prior hotel sales experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of sales cycle & processes-experience dealing with various markets preferred.
  • Must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred.

Skills:

  • Must be driven, methodical & self motivated with a relentless pursuit for results
  • Strong Interpersonal & Customer Service skills are required
  • Must be eager to be part of a team, and to grow & develop  
  • Must have a competitive spirit with a persuasive approach
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills are required
