THIS POSITION IS AT THE CITY CLUB LOCATED AT 900 W. WISCONSIN AVE - DOWNTOWN MILWAUKEE

POSITION SUMMARY: 

A server will take orders and deliver them to our guests maintaining and enhancing the quality of our customer service. The goal is provide members and guests with a memorable experience. Must be well groomed following Wisconsin Club policy for front of the house appearance when working with members. A server must be able to work effectively with coworkers and other departments to support and maintain a level of excellence in food and beverage service for the members and guests. To provide a warm, friendly environment to create a world class dining experience for our members and guests. It is critically important that member names are used on a regular basis to personalize each and every visit.

 A server must possess the ability to work effectively under pressure, and to be able to ask for help when needed to maintain excellent service standards with his/her tables. The candidate must have excellent listening skills. Servers must be flexible in meeting the varying scheduling needs of the Club and be willing to work occasionally longer or shorter shifts than originally scheduled. The server must be safety conscious looking out for members, guests, and coworkers at all times. You follow established health and safety standards.

 This position requires a highly self-motivated individual who can with clients at a high-level.  Qualifications should include a minimum of 1 to 3 years serving experience.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • To arrive well-groomed and dressed in the appropriate uniform, and ready to work at scheduled time.
  • Review and set up tables assuring all dishes, silverware and glasses are in top condition.
  • Set-up and stock server stations depending on the volume of business forecasted for the shift and the following shifts.
  • Attend pre shift meetings for updates and specials for the day or evening when applicable.
  • Possess complete knowledge of the menus and serve food and beverages to members graciously and with respect.
  • Know how to properly and gracefully present, open and serve a bottle of wine at a table.
  • Know and abide by all club policies.
  • Keep the dining room managers informed and up to date on any issues with the food service.
  • Follow Club procedures for handling and storing food products in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Assist in the opening and closing duties for each shift you work and participate fairly and equally in any occasional special set-ups if applicable.
  • Always treat coworkers including wait assistants with respect. If an issues arises that causes tension between you and another bring it to the managers attention to resolve do not argue in front of members or guests.
  • Use the P.O.S. system to open and close chits, if problem occur seek assistance from the manager on duty.
  • Monitor your work schedule so you know your shifts and start times. Always come to work on time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

 A High School diploma is preferred. Have superior customer service skills and the ability to maintain poise under pressure. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

  • Must be fluent in the English language.
  • Ability to speak additional languages is a plus.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Requires mostly indoor work.
  • Must stoop, bend, and use repetitive movements on a regular basis.
  • Requires standing for long periods of time.
  • Requires occasional lifting of weights in excess of 40 lbs.
  • Can be exposed to various levels of noise.
  • Must have the ability to hear and talk clearly.
  • Weekend and Holiday work is required.
