Description

ENGINEER I and/or PAINTER: The Engineer 1 will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space, restaurant, common areas, back of the house areas, painting, and refinishing of furnisher. Guest suite and public area entry-level preventative maintenance are included. The Engineer 1 will also perform some repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, kitchen, and laundry equipment. Continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting guests and / or associates. Perform preventative maintenance duties as assigned. May assist with other duties as assigned. The Engineer I and/or Painter will report to the Engineering Management team.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to carry, grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs-300lbs.; and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes, and luggage.
  • Must clearly communicate in English with guests, management, coworkers and vendors.
  • Must clearly communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding. Communication skills required include clear speech and hearing ability.
  • Frequently walking/ moving about property constantly, Standing, moving around.
  • Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and crawling and sitting to perform any and all general duties. 
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 1-year building maintenance or previous construction experience, experience required, with hotel experience preferred.
  • Must possess understanding of basic hand/power tool operation.
  • Must possess basic plumbing knowledge and preventive maintenance knowledge.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, coworkers and vendors.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding.
  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills are essential, must be able to multi task, have outstanding attitude, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
  • Must be results orientated with ability to be flexible.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to write routine reports, keep logs, and correspondence and ability to speak effectively with customers and associates.
  • The ability to deal with internal & external guests with a high level of professionalism, tact and diplomacy.

  • Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry concepts.  
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents as safety rules (i.e. Lockout Tag out, JSA's), safety awareness information (i.e., MSDS) operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.) 
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Must have strong conflict resolution skills and MUST possess strong leadership, communication and relationship skills. (Must have clear, concise verbal & written communication skills.)
  • Must be guest service focused, and understand expectations of hospitality demands.
  • The ability to deal with internal & external guests with a high level of professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must work well with others, be motivated, and display a positive energetic persona.
