Description

ROOM SERVICE SERVER: In Room Dining Servers are responsible for presenting guest food and beverage preferences timely and to temperature as well as maintain mini bar inventories up to service standards.  Other duties include general in room dining preparation, removal of serving trays, and maintaining a sanitary environment. Delivers and serves food and beverages to hotel guest's room; set up and serve the order in the guest's room according to specifications and standards. Complete guest payment transactions as outlined in cash and charge procedures. Document legibly the guest's order information on guest checks. Describe all menu items; methods of preparation and prices as needed. Work within policy to accommodate guest's special food requests. Performs set-up and closing side-work; stock service station, make coffee, etc. Preset trays as necessary; prepare flatware "roll-ups". Coordinate VIP deliveries with appropriate departments. May be required to retrieve trays from guest rooms and hallways within prescribed time (maintain cleanliness of Room Service Station, guest rooms and corridors, service elevators, and all other F&B areas) and assist with other duties as assigned. May answer room service phones and record orders; utilize up-selling techniques to increase sales. Basic math skills are frequently used when handling cash and credit. The Room Service Server will report directly the Room Service Supervisor and/or Food & Beverage Management Team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must have minimum 1 year previous serving experience.
  • Must have good phone skills with clear diction. 
  • This position requires ability to work well with the public and stand for long periods of time, handle multiple tasks, as well as set -up trays.
  • Cash handling and previous hospitality experience helpful.
  • Must have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to lift, pull and push moderate weight.
  • The ability to deal with internal & external guests with a high level of professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be guest service focused and understand expectations of hospitality and restaurant demands.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule, weekends and holidays.
  • Successful candidates will have excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Must be a team player and exude friendly demeanor/personality.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often to answer guest's questions regarding the menu.
  • Basic math skills are used when performing some restaurant duties.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency is a plus.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. 

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Moving about the kitchen
  • Handling food objects, products and utensils
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling
