Description

MAINTENANCE ENGINEER: This position will be responsible for all aspects of hotel maintenance.  The Maintenance Engineer will perform general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained. This position will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on major equipment and systems. This position will be assigned projects which will include analyzing problems and formulating plans to get work done quickly, including procurement of materials, parts, etc., with a high degree of quality.  The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for responding to guest complaints, special requests and ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction.   This position must display great attention to detail, as the Maintenance Engineer will be expected to take special care in identifying and noting special guest preferences through personal interactions, and keen observation skills.  The Maintenance Engineer must have good English communication skills, and will be expected to verbally communicate and provide written documentation of any special preferences identified while assisting guests with special requests.  Follow and enforce procedures that ensure the security of inventory such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc., replenish supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner, and minimizes waste. Perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, guest suites, kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation, and water treatment systems, and swimming pool, etc.  Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.  The Maintenance Engineer may assist with other duties as assigned.  Maintain positive public relations and attitude with all guests and associates.  The Maintenance Engineer will report to the General Manager. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must report to work on time as per scheduled shift start time. Must be able to comply with any/ all hotel Attendance & Punctuality standards, expectations and policies.
  • Must be a team player and project a pleasant, positive, professional demeanor at all times.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to deal with internal & external guests with a high level of professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be responsible for general property maintenance of hotel equipment and facilities.
  • Must inspect equipment to ensure proper working condition.
  • Ability to be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting production schedules and time lines.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 2 years building maintenance experience required, with hotel experience preferred.
  • Experienced in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields is preferred.
  • Must possess exceptional English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to write routine reports, keep logs, and correspondence and ability to speak effectively with customers and associates.
  • The ability to deal with internal & external guests with a high level of professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be guest service focused and understand expectations of hospitality demands.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule, weekends and holidays.
  • Should have some working knowledge of building systems, including life-safety systems (preferred but not required).
  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents as safety rules (i.e. Lockout Tag out, JSA's), safety awareness information (i.e., MSDS) operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
