Description

COOK 1: Entry Level Cook is a culinary position that requires basic culinary skills or related experience. This position is responsible for the production of food items for any one of our F&B outlets and banquet operations. The Cook 1 is responsible primarily for, but not limited to, preparing and maintaining the cold food station (i.e. vegetables, etc.). This is a fast-paced position that involves heavy lifting, pushing and pulling as well as excessive walking, standing and bending. The Cook 1 position will also share dishwasher and cafeteria attendant responsibilities when business dictate and/or to cover time off requests, inclusive of maintaining cleanliness of all hotel china, silverware, and cookware. Participate as a team player with all departments within the hotel. The Cook 1 will report directly the Sous Chef and indirectly to the Executive Chef.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This culinary position requires good communication skills, strong customer service, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong professional presentation.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task while maintaining close attention to detail and the ability to take direction in a high performance environment. 
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule, weekends and holidays, inclusive of AM & PM shifts.
  • A minimum of 1 year previous prep and basic cooking experience is preferred.
  • Restaurant kitchen and/or Hotel kitchen preferred, but not required. 

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Moving about the kitchen
  • Handling food, objects, products and utensils
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling
